About Alythia

Like many who walk this path, I did not grow up as a pagan and a witch, but chose this path decades ago. Although perhaps, when I think about it, this path chose me, too. I felt connected to the gods even as a child who was still (at least nominally) of my parents’ Greek Orthodox faith. I had a strong fascination with the tarot, and after years of study was reading professionally out of a new age bookshop in Alexandria in 2007 when I began walking the path of the Knotted Ash. I achieved my Third Degree in the summer of 2022.

In addition to my role as a coven leader and priestess in the Knotted Ash, I teach 101 classes, and workshops on a variety of subjects from tarot reading to devotional practice to wards and shielding. I also write the blog and sometimes podcast “Witchful Thinking from Alythia,” available on Substack. I have taught at Frederick Pagan Pride, Spirit Northwest and Fertile Ground Gathering. I am currently writing my first book, which is under contract to Llewellyn.

In addition to all of that, I've done the things that most people do — I've raised a family, worked hard for a living, and been a faithful friend. I live with two very opinionated cats, the Calico Sisters, in a pretty ordinary suburban town.
